When I was a kid I used to love skateboarding. I traveled with my brother and his friends to see Tony Hawk and remember even getting Steve Caballero’s autograph at one point. “Skate Park Instrumental” was inspired by this kind of youthful spunk. I was inspired to write this song “Recently Departed” soon after the Iraq war began and news of casualties started coming in… although I have no veterans in my immediate family, I have utmost respect for the work they do and sacrifices they make.
